Annotation

Within the Amateur radio funks a change of generations has executed itself, through which the OM has become by the crafter of his station to the consumer of commercially manufactured instruments.
This thesis may be correct to say nothing of dismay the Oldtimer sadly, but it is a fact, which accommodated has pressed the technical necessity the Amateur radio bands are disturbed to such an extent by commercial news services and also, that it is possible the amateur only with high-grade instruments, his hobby to pursue.  The technology of these instruments is so far advanced meanwhile, that it is to be mastered alone with a highly qualified knowledge and considerable measurement technology expense. Both contradicts the „Amateur status“, so that only still very, mostly professional engineers  to develop few, are in the position  their station after the traditional Amateur radio - understanding by the Alu - metal up to the first QSO independent to develop and to set up.
This change has not escaped the industry.  She has flooded the amateurs
with a tide commercially manufactured equipment, in which each maker
understands to praise the “last cry“ of his product.

The overview over the offer has slipped the amateurs fully, since with technical data is operated, which can become from the consumers neither theoretically nor measurement technology  can be reconstructed. Additionally technical data company-owned definition are not rare, so that the amateur can not protect himself ultimately from subjective judgements.

From H.J. Pietsch from his book 'Kurzwellen-Amateurfunktechnik'
Franzis - Publishing house Ltd., Munich 1979

Although this preface is old to his book already 24 years, it has lost however from his statement nothing at truth. But the ham radio operator must look also again at the content of his purse, becomes very choosy, too times the offer and/or the makers of commercial instruments also already again on the retreat are.
